The Shop Artwork Aftercare George Martinez James S. Monteiro Leo Oliveira Stacy Milo Jen

My name is James, but most people call me Norm. I dwell in the West end of Toronto. Growing up, I enjoyed watching Ghostbusters, and reading a lot of comic books. This influenced me to draw random things, and comic strips. As I got older, I explored Photography and Painting.

I did however, get sidetracked from my desire in Art in my last years of high school. I was involved in Co-op for Funeral Services. As I furthered myself in the industry, I realised that being a long term Mortician wasn’t for me. Art, gives me the satisfaction, and it was what I truly desired.

At the age of 20, I was fortunate enough to obtain an apprenticeship in the tattoo industry. I wanted to take Photography and my paintings a little further. I felt that tattooing was best for me. I wanted to be a tattooist because it gave me the ability to use my artistic talents to help others express themselves through my art work.

When I’m not tattooing, I’m drawing Old School Flash, playing, and collecting Bass and Guitars, reading tattoo magazines, and listening to music that ranges from Metal to Rockabilly.

My biggest influences are Sailor Jerry, Coop, old school traditional, neo-traditional, and Joe Capobianco’s Pin-up Girls. I am also a fan of many Horror Zombie and Monster Movies.

You can find me tattooing at Lucky 13 Tattoo shop in Toronto, Ont.
