When I was little, a friend of the family showed me a faded tattoo of a hummingbird that he had gotten when he was young. He told me to never get a tattoo because the colour fades out. For some reason, that had the opposite effect on me. From then on, I noticed tattoos and became fascinated with them.
My career began during 2004 in a small shop in British Columbia. Life and a desire for deeper waters brought me to Toronto, where I was fortunate enough to get a place in Lucky 13.
I eventually developed a knack for flowing, stylized graphics which translate well onto skin. I especially enjoy doing floral work with high saturation colours.
All art has its merits so to narrow down what inspires me is a difficult task. If I had to choose, I’d have to point at the Art Nouveau style that blossomed in Europe around the late 1800’s. I’m drawn to the flowing, organic curves of the lines and the architectural balance of the designs.
